The Slim Shaker Cabinet
I always love a well-designed kitchen and while I have been drawn to Shaker cabinets for their simplicity, I’ve been finding myself a tad bit bored with this particular style of cabinet. The reality is I see them so often and have a specific opinion about their different styles. But, towards the end of 2021, I came across a new style of shaker, the Slim Shaker (also called Skinny Shaker, Micro Shaker, Narrow Shaker or Thin Shaker), and have officially become obsessed as I’m starting to see them installed all over the place. But, every new obsession begs the question, “Is it here to stay or is it just a fad.”
I’m pretty certain it is here to stay! Here's my take!
Its sleek and minimalist design is both timeless and contemporary, making it a popular choice for updating kitchens. The clean lines and simple design of shaker cabinets have been popular for centuries and continue to be in style, but the added bonus of a slimmer profile provides a more updated look.
The slim shaker is highly versatile and can be used in a variety of ways to suit different kitchen layouts, designs and styles. They can be used as standalone furniture pieces, built into full-height units, or used in horizontal configurations as base or wall cabinets. It’s this flexibility that makes them a popular choice for so many different types of kitchens, from small and compact spaces to large and open-plan layouts.
With slim shaker cabinetry available in a wide range of materials and finishes, including high-end options like premium woods and high-gloss lacquers, the versatility allows homeowners and designers to create a truly bespoke look that fits with their overall design aesthetic and style.
And finally, the growing trend towards a more minimalist and streamlined kitchen design is likely to continue, making slim shaker cabinetry a gorgeous fit for those seeking a timeless, contemporary and stylish look.
