My 2024 Humble Brag Moment
When Matt and I first started dating, he told me I should become a Realtor, and my mind immediately went to that all-too-famous and super cringey scene from American Beauty where Annette Bening is determined to sell a fixer.
“I will sell this house today” the actress, both desperately and determinedly, exclaims as she vacuums, dusts, and cleans a hopeless Los Angeles ranch style fixer in an under dress slip before preparing for what is likely to be an open house. American Beauty came out in the movie theaters when I was just a sophomore in college (my second year of architecture school) and that scene was a formative moment in my life that left me with an icky taste about realtors and suburbia.
After Matt finally convinced me to chat with a couple of San Francisco realtors, he first introduced me to his buddy, Jason Hoffman. Another top-producing realtor in San Francisco, Jason immediately asked me if I wanted the sugar-coated version of selling real estate or the “real deal.” Once this former lawyer turned top-producing real estate agent shared the bad, the ugly and then finally the good, I became convinced that I could overcome Annette Bening's cringey characterization of a real estate agent.
Twenty five years after American Beauty’s debut in the movie theater, it's both bonkers and completely ironic to share this humble brag moment that I made it on to Real Trends & Tom Ferry's 2024 America’s Best Real Estate Professionals once again! All of which is a fun way of saying that I finished out 2023 in the top 1.5% of agents nationwide!
It’s an honor that’s only made possible by so many clients and friends who have trusted me with one of their most prized assets - their real estate. I get to sell some of the most historic, unique, beloved and expensive architecture in the most beautiful city amongst the most professional crowd of realtors with the most savvy and intelligent buyers and sellers in this country. Yes, I said it - In! This! Country! It’s a true honor to get to do what I do!
I'm shouting out a big huge THANK YOU to everyone who has been a part of my journey, whether as a friend, family, colleague, client, or even someone from my past.
THANK YOU!
